Subia advanced to the West Regional Tournament by defeating the Arizona Firebirds 13 – 1 in the championship game.

They had but a few days to prepare for travel to Moraga, California for the July 29 – August 1 West Championship held at St. Mary’s College where Subia will compete against teams from California, Washington and Nevada for the privilege of going to the Connie Mack World Series.

Game 1 Subia 3 Gears 0
Craig Heyer threw a complete 1-hit shutout. Nick Walters ended the scoreless game with a walkoff 3-run homerun in the bottom of the last inning.

Game 2 Subia 1 Firebirds 0
Nick Walters pitched a 3-hit complete game shutout with 11 strikeouts without a walk. Nolan Litke (2-2) drove in the winning run in the first inning.

Game 3 Subia 3 Scottsdale Cubs 2
Isaac Hess and Brandon Farmer combined with a 2-hit hard fought win. Travis Peep and Seth Furmanek each contributed 2-hits with Nolan Litke driving-in the game winning run with a bases-loaded single in the bottom of the final inning.

Game 4 All Star Academy 4 Subia 2
Subia lost its first game in the Arizona championship but still advanced to the championship game by allowing the fewest runs scored in the tournament. The Firebirds and Academy played for the right to meet Subia in the final game.

Winner! Subia now advances to the West Regional Championship. The lopsided score was a surprise over a very talented Firebirds team. C.J. Retherford pitched a strong six innings with Chance Hanepen closing out the seventh inning. Bats for Subia were hot with C.J. Retherford (3-4), Eric Farris (3-4), Seth Furmanek (2-4)(1HR), Andrew Darr (2-4), Nolan Litke (2-4), Travis Peep (2-4) and Trevor Vega (1 HR) leading the way.
