Subia advanced to the Connie Mack World Series by winning the Connie Mack West Regional held at St. Mary’s College in Moraga, California. Subia became the first team from Arizona to capture the West Championship. This series was a special reward for a group of young men that proved that talent combined with team chemistry is what it takes to defeat other skilled baseball teams. This was a particular life-defining time for Eric Farris who was noticed by the Loyola Marymount University baseball coaches. He received a scholarship offer and will attend Loyola, an exceptional academic university, with a nationally-known and strong baseball program.

Game 1: Arizona Subia 7 California Rockies 1
Nick Walters pitched a complete game 4-hitter with 11 strikeouts. Strong offense performances by C.J. Retherford, Nolan Litke, Andrew Darr, Seth Furmanek, Dan Colella and Brian Budrow helped seal the victory

Game 2: Lafayette Generals 1 Arizona Subia 0
Inspite of a well-pitched compete game by C.J. Retherford, Subia lost a nail biter. The loss dropped Subia into the loser’s bracket.

Game 3: Arizona Subia 7 Oakland Oaks 4
Subia avoided elimination behind a strong pitching effort by Brandon Thomson with Chad Whittle getting the save. Offensive performances by C.J. Retherford and Travis Peep solidified the win.

Game 4: Arizona Subia 2 Orange County Giants 0
Subia continued its climb through the loser’s bracket behind Chad Whittle’s complete game 3-hit shutout. Nolan Litke, who had doubled, scored the first run on a single by Andrew Darr. Nolan Litke drove in Eric Farris for the second run. Eric was put in scoring position by a single from Travis Peep.

Game 5: Arizona Subia 4 California Rockies 1
Subia chalked up its second-win over the Rockies behind a 4-hit complete game by Isaac Hess to put Subia into the championship game. Offense leaders included Dan Colella, Trevor Vega, Andrew Darr, C.J. Retherford and Brian Budrow. Travis Peep contributed two key sacrifices.

Championship Game: Arizona Subia 3 Lafayette Generals 0
Ahh. The defining moment. Nick Walters threw his second complete game with a 3-hit shutout. Trevor Vega, C.J. Retherford, Seth Furmanek, Brian Budrow and Dan Colella led the offensive performance. On to the Connie Mack World Series.
